The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil body scrub review

Hello friends,

Today I will be sharing my views on the body scrub from The Body Scrub. Well I had always taken skin care for granted. I took good care of my facial skin but for the rest of the body I didn’t really put any effort. Talking about my skin type, I have oily skin on my face while the rest of the body is dry skin. Because of this the skin in my hands and legs would always feel very rough and unnourished. It really hit on me when I started wearing shorts and dresses. My skin would not look very pleasing and it felt really annoying. That’s when I understood that I need to exfoliate other areas of my body as well and not only the face. We all use a loofah, I do too. But there are some body scrubs out there which will make a hell lot of difference to the skin. After reading a lot of good reviews I bought the Body Shop’s Wild Argan Oil exfoliating gel body scrub and after using it for a month and half now I will sharing my views about this product.

The packaging as you can see is a very regular Body Shop packaging which they use for all their body butters and scrubs. It’s a transparent plastic jar and you can see the product in it. The packaging says ‘smoothes and exfoliates to reveal radiant looking skin with slow-pressed Argan oil and Argan shell exfoliates from the little Atlas Mountains, Morocco.’

This body scrub retails for Rs. 1195/- for 250 ml of the product which is okay.

Talking about the scrub, as you can see this brown colour gel like texture and has Argan shell granules in it which helps in the exfoliation. The reviews that I had read said that this exfoliates the skin very well and because it had Argan oil in it you do not need a moisturiser after using this scrub. I immediately bought this thinking if there is no need for applying moisturiser after this then it would save me a lot of time. I have been using this for more than a month now as you can see the jar is half finished. I can say that I liked this scrub. The scrub really did exfoliate the stubborn dry patches of my skin and made my skin really smooth. I could really feel the difference after the first use. However I did feel the need to apply a moisturiser after the shower. It did not moisturise my skin which was really disappointing. However I was happy with the fact that it gave me a smooth skin.

GALIFORNIA from Benefit ! My first impressions / review

Hello Friends,

So for a very long time I have been searching for a makeup product which will work as a highlighter as well as a blush. I know many makeup brands have this combination, however, I was in search of a very specific shade. I searched in all my favourite makeup stores however the shades that were available were the regular shades. The blushes with glitter had big glitter particles and would not give that natural glowy skin finish and some blushes had the right glitter texture however I did not like the shade. I was in search of a highlighter with very fine glitter particles and the perfect pink shade to get that natural glowy look with the perfect flush of colour. My search came to an end when I accidentally came across this beauty in a Sephora store. The product I am talking about is the new blush from Benefit and the name is GALIFORNIA. So I have been using this product for a week now and will be sharing with you my first impressions / review today.

This new blush is my latest obsession. I just can’t stop staring at this product. As you can see, the packaging is very trendy, it’s chick, so much fun, gives a feel of spring and it’s amazing. The name GALIFORNIA as you can see in the picture above is mentioned on the packaging on the oversized sunglasses of the girl and looks really funky. On opening the box you can see that there is a brush as well as a mini mirror which is a thumbs up to Benefit for being so thoughtful. The brush is not of the highest quality which is a slight disappointment for me when it comes to such an expensive product, however it’s usable. Then there is the plastic brush holder and below this is the actual product. The blush has a very beautiful design of the sun with golden embossing on it and the colour of the blush is to die for. As you can see, it’s peachy, it’s pinkish golden, summery, gosh I just don’t know how to describe this beautiful colour. I would call it the perfect sunset colour, if that makes sense. This is my favourite blusher I have owned till today and a high end one too. With this we come to the price of this product. So let me tell you that this retails for Rs. 2810 for 5 gm of the product. Crazy right?? that you can decide. For me I am okay because I am just in love with this blusher.

I tried using the blush with the brush as well with my fingers, however I liked the brush application better as it looked more natural. This blush is highly blendable and the colour has a wear thats fairly resistant to fading. Since I have oily skin, after few hours this blush looks so natural and dewy on my skin, and all credits to the colour of this blush. Also I feel because of my oily skin even a little quantity of application makes it look so perfect (after few hours of application), hence I prefer using a very minimal amount otherwise it would look too pinkish. It has that slight hint of golden glitters which makes it look so perfect. The texture is soft, silky and finely milled. Below is the swatch of how it looks when applied by brush and fingers.

The colour is such it will suit most Indian skin tones and it gives a nice flush of colour to the cheeks, and that shine, OMG, it looks so natural. Currently its one of my favourite makeup product from all that I have with me. This is such a lovely blush I am really hooked to this product now.

Also, I have seen this product in the Sephora store only so I am assuming that this is either available at the Sephora store else can be bought online. This is a really nice blush and I would recommend to buy it if you are looking for some good high-end makeup product.

Sugar smudge liquid lipstick review

Hey Friends,

In this post I will be reviewing the Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid lipsticks review. I have used liquid lipsticks in the past but this liquid lipstick range is my favourite. Sugar cosmetics has a really good collection of lipsticks. They have the Matte liquid lipsticks, matte lipsticks, velvet liquid lipsticks, Creme lipsticks and also lipsticks in metallic colours. They have shades in pinks and purples, red and orange, brown, bold and Nudes. Not only lipsticks they have a whole other range of makeup products with a wide variety to choose from. Since this brand was new for me so I tried one of their liquid lipstick range which was the Smudge Me Not Liquid lipstick and I must say I was very impressed with this lipstick. I saw many reviews on YouTube and got three shades for myself - ‘Mia Sangria’, ‘Wine and Shine’ and ‘Brazen Raisin’. All the three colours are very pretty and I am sure it will suit all Indian skin tones.  Also the product costs Rs 499 for 4.5 ml of the product which is amazing.

The outer packaging of the product as you can see is really nice. The name of the shade is mentioned on the outer packaging which is a good thing. The bottle which contains the product is transparent and has the shade name mentioned at the bottom. Overall I really liked the packaging which is quite simple and chic. The applicator is doe foot applicator which makes it really easy to apply the lipstick perfectly.

Now Sugar has a really wide range of shades to choose from and the colour range is such that it will suite most of the Indian skin tones. Below is the swatch of the shades that I bought for myself and as you can see the product is very much pigmented. Just one coat can give you the desired coverage and because these lipsticks are superbly pigmented they stain your lips a bit (only a bit which can go off easily) which is what I really liked about the product. I apply these lipsticks to office everyday and it really survives the day with a breakfast and a lunch and 2 coffee breaks in between. Towards the end of the day it leaves behind a slight pigment which gives a natural flush of colour to my lips which in case of other lipsticks just wears off showing off my pale and pigmented lips. With other lipsticks which do not stain, sometimes it so happens that the lipstick remains only towards the outer line of my lips as the middle part gets wiped off during eating and trust me it looks gross. So I would prefer lipsticks which leave a pigment when they wear off.

Below are the swatches of the 3 lip shades. Brazen Raisin is a reddish brown shade (sorry I am too bad at describing shades) and its such a pretty colour, perfect for wedding outfit. The second shade Wine & Shine which is my favourite is a beautiful deep berry wine shade and would look amazing on any skin tone. The last one Mia Sangria is a pinkish purple shade which is perfect for office wear.

I will now tell you how I use this lipstick and how you can get the most out of it. The first and the most important tip for applying these lipsticks is to avoid chapped lips. Try to keep your lips well moisturised by regularly moisturising your lips. Before applying this lipstick I would advice you to first apply a generous amounts of lipbalm. You can let it sit on your lips for sometime. Meanwhile you can get completed with the rest of your makeup which is what I do while getting ready. Once your rest of the makeup is complete just press your lips behind your palm so that just the right amount of lipbalm gets off. Don’t use tissue paper otherwise the paper can soak all the lip-balm that you have applied leaving your lips dry. I would suggested using your palm to remove just the right amount. After this you can apply just one coat of this lipstick and you are good to go. It will dry up instantly so incase you want to spread it a bit do so quickly. The only thing which I did not like is that for sometime you will feel as if there is a layer of something on your lips which will require a little getting used to but if you have followed the steps that I told you earlier your lips will not dry from within. The staying power of these lipsticks is also great that it will surely survive the day even if you have oily food. The only trouble you will have with these lipsticks is if you wish to change the lipstick shade immediately after applying one shade. Remember this is not going to come off easily with a makeup remover until and unless you are using a heavy duty makeup remover. When I get into such situations I try putting some oil and leave it for few seconds and then wipe it off. Also remember once you remove all your makeup before going to bed make sure to moisturise your lips to continue to have that flawless matte lipstick application.

So friends this was my take on this lipstick. Overall I really liked it and would definitely recommend buying. Let me know what is your experience with this lipstick in the comment section. Cya.

Having healthy skin requires dedication

Hello Dearies,

Today's blog is not about any product. Its yet another blog where I will be letting you know the struggles which I have faced for my skin and what have I done so far to overcome it. You can say this is a chit-chat blog. The first one I had written was about oily skin struggles. If you haven't checked that out yet do check it using the link below:
http://www.mymakeupdiaries.com/2017/08/oily-skin-nightmares-and-skin-care-tips.html

Well for having a healthy and beautiful skin you don't need expensive beauty products or expensive beauty treatments. Trust me girl, the only thing you need is some efforts which you will have to follow as a ritual on a daily basis. One of my personal experiences which I would like to share is, in 2012, I had suddenly started breaking out very badly. One of my coulleges was taking some skin treatment at Kaya, and looking at the results of her skin I also thought of trying the treatment. Since it was Kaya, I did not have a doubt in my mind. So as expected I visited the Kaya skin clinic and after a free diagnosis they suggested me some treatments, which I readily accepted and immediately started with the treatment. The treatment majorly included 'PEEL-OFFs' (in sometime you will know why I wrote that in block letters). So basically, these PEEL-OFFs are to improve the skin colour, is what I have understood so far ( which I did not wanted as that is what is going to ruin your skin later). However in their words, it was to improve the skin texture for a brighter and healthier looking skin. So I started with the treatment, and within a month I could see visible results. My acne was all gone and my skin was looking fairer (not brighter) as my the peel-offs were taking away the dead skin cells. My skin colour improved and was even toned and also my skin had becoming really smooth. I was very happy. This was a costly affair for me and I was glad with the results, not knowing what damage it was going to do to me in the long run. The treatment continued for 3 months and at the end of the three months they suggested me a maintenance session for another 4 months with additional charges. By the end of the treatment my skin was looking great and I was happy with the results. Just 2 months after this, I started breaking out again, and this time very badly because now my skin had become more sensitive with the peel-offs that I had done.  Because of this nothing was helping me in getting rid of those acnes. Slowly I noticed my skin was back to being dull again and since the peel-offs had made my skin so sensitive, no skin creams or medicated creams were helping me. My skin was just reacting to everything. I knew it then, all the money that I had spend on the expensive treatment was a waste.

For me beautiful skin is a healthy and glowing skin,  the complexion does not matter. Even if you have darker skin tone you can have a healthy and beautiful skin and that's what matters for me and this is what I want to convey from my blog.
So below are some of the tips which might help you get that beautiful skin which you have always dreamed of without burning a hole in your pocket.

1. Drinking lots and lots of water: Yes, you heard me right. Drinking sufficient quantity of water is the deal breaker for me for a healthy skin. Drink lots of water to get that 'glow from within' look on your skin. No expensive beauty products, no medicines, no medical treatments. Just plain and simple water, is your key for a healthy skin.

2. Scrubbing only few times a week: You must be thinking, if we scrub only ones or twice a week, the dead skin cells would accumulate and create skin problems. Trust me girl, you need scrubbing, but not more than twice or thrice a week. Scrubbing regularly will make your skin super sensitive and would cause a lot of trouble. So twice or thrice a week is good.

3. Remove makeup before you go to bed: I remove my makeup with a makeup remover and then wash with a mild cleanser as well. Do make sure that every little particle of makeup is removed before you go to bed. This allows your pores to breathe and hence avoids breakouts or other skin conditions.

4. Non-comedogenic products : The important tip is, always search for beauty products which do not clog pores. You will find this mentioned at the packaging of the products. This is the first thing you should look in any product. No matter how branded the product is, I make sure the product is non-comedogenic before I buy it.

5. Avoid excess sugar : Yes you heard me right!! Sugar can be hard to resist but if you want your skin to look good then avoid excess sugar. Try analysing your skin the day after you have lot of sweets and soda, you will notice the difference I bet you. I tried it myself and honestly my skin looked worse with large pores and slight redness, also few small pimples here and there.  You would not want to hear this, but yes, sugar triggers acne formation in skin. So the lesser sugar the better it is for your skin.

6. Do some exercise daily: By exercise I do not mean that you have to run to the gym. One hour of walk everyday is all you need, to get the skin sweating and removing all the dirt from the pores.

7. Make sunscreen your best friend: Find the sunscreen that suits you and never step out of house without it. This will protect your skin from all the harmful rays of the sun and all the damage it does to your skin.

8. Balanced diet : You have been hearing about this since ages now, and I know it does not need much explaining. So yes, a balanced diet can also help you get a healthy skin.

9. Avoid alcohol : As we all know alcohol usually dehydrates your body and hence your skin. Alcohol surely takes its toll on skin and makes it dry and wrinkled. So, the lesser the better !!

I hope the above tips were helpful to you all. I have followed the above tips myself and I have seen the difference it has done to my skin. If you have any other suggestions do mention it in the comments section. I will continue to do my research and may be get back with a second blog with some more useful tips.

Love yourself !! Cya :)

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Hello Dearies,

Today's review is about a much hyped makeup remover Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. This is my second review in the makeup remover series. Earlier to this I have reviewed the Bioderma makeup remover. So this review will include my views about the Garnier makeup remover as well as how much did I like it compared to the Bioderma.

Just in case you did not know what micellar water is, micellar water can be used as a facial wash, makeup remover and moisturise all in one. The micelles in it have properties which can attract dirt and oil and hence come handy when you are in a hurry or have no time to do a complete cleansing routine.

Price : Rs 349 for 400 ml of the product

Packaging:-
The packaging is very simple, with a transparent plastic bottle and a flip open cap. The packaging reads - all in one micellar cleansing water that purifies and removes makeup in 1 gesture. Enriched with micelles, it captures and lifts away residue from face, eyes and lips like a magnet. No need to rub to get rid of impurities and makeup. They also say that this refreshing formula is non-sticky, non-oily and without perfume. It is suitable for all skin type including sensitive skin. This product is also dermatologically and opthalmologically tested.

How to use it:

Simply pour some micellar water to a cotton pad, lightly press on to the face and slowly wipe it away. For removing Matte lipsticks and your favourite smoky eye makeup, gently press on to the lips and eye lids for some time and then swipe it off. By soaking the makeup with this solution for some time will help removing the makeup easily. The product claims that no rinsing required after using this cleansing solution. However, I always clean my face with a face wash after I have removed my makeup with the micellar water.

My views on the product:-
I bought Garnier Micellar after months of using of Bioderma micellar water thinking that all micellar waters will be same. However after using Garnier for more than a month, I can say that I liked the Bioderma more. First observance, even if I shake the bottle a little bit, it forms bubbles as if it has some soap thingy in it. This was not the case with Bioderma. There used to be bubbles but after giving it a good shake. Another difference is that, the Bioderma bubbles would go away within minutes, however Garnier would take hours to settle down the bubbles. When I use it to remove makeup, it feels very slippery similar to using a face wash and also feel burning sensation if the liquid   gets into my eyes which was not the case with Bioderma. The fact is even if I have not moved the Garnier micellar bottle I still see bubbles on its surface, which makes me a bit skeptical about the product.

On the makeup removing part, removing heavy duty makeup takes a little bit of effort with Garnier and I feel it is not as smooth as Bioderma. The only downer about Bioderma is that it is too costly as it is priced at Rs 983 for 250 ml of the product. The Garnier makeup remover does pretty well for removing the makeup however Bioderma is my favourite.

So those were my views on this product. Hope it was helpful. Do let me know if you want to know anything else about this product and also your views in the comments section below.

Innisfree Green Tea Fresh Essence Review

Hello Friends,

Today I will be reviewing another product from Innisfree. I have been using few of the products from Innisfree since some time and the Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay mask is one of my favourite masks. Innisfree as I have already said before is a Korean brand which claims to be all natural and dedicated to sharing the clean and pure energy of nature for healthy beauty. Well till now I am impressed with the products that I have used from Innisfree. Today I will be talking about the Innisfree Green Tea Fresh Essence. Like most of you I was also not clear about the difference between essence and cream. Well thanks to the lady at the Innisfree store to explain me the difference. As per my simple understanding, essence gets deep into the layers of the skin and works from within and creams work on the top layers of the skin.

Price: Rs 1400 for 50mL of the product

Packaging:

The packaging is really impressive. It comes with a green colour bottle with a pump dispenser which pumps out just the right amount of product. For me its a thumbs up for the packaging.

Product Description:

The packaging says this refreshing essence is enriched with freshly squeezed green tea from the pure juju island to control sebum while delivering moisture to your skin. Also this product is specifically for oily skin people as mentioned on the packaging. The ingredients are also clearly listed down on the packaging as shown in the picture below.

My take on the product:

I was looking for some good moisturiser which won't be too oily for my already oily skin. I went to a nearby shopping mall and was very happy to see the Innisfree store. Without a doubt I walked in and as advised by the store lady I bought this. This product really does what it claims, to be specific this product only does what it claims. This essence is a little thick in consistence and is not runny or liquidy. Once applied it just melts into the skin and gets absorbed into the skin within seconds. For my skin it neither feels matte nor oily. It just feels very natural as if I have applied nothing at all and I don't need to apply anything at all. So overall  this is a good moisturiser which is not at all heavy on my skin and gives just the right amount of moisturization. This does not improve the complexion or reduce any pigmentation or anything. It just works on providing the right amount of moisture which is what it claims. When I bought this bottle and after using it for a month I thought this will get over very soon and so I went and bought another bottle just so that I don't have to skip on my moisturiser if it gets finished. To my surprise the bottle has lasted me for over 2 months now and not yet finished. Also I had bought this product when it was winter season and I have used this through the winter season and now its already summer. To my surprise this product does not make my skin oily even if its summer which most of my earlier creams used to do. So this is another thumbs up from me for this product.

There are no cons of the product as such, but adding some more properties like reducing pigmentation would had been great. Overall this is a very nice and basic product which is just right for oily skin and I will definitely repurchase it.

Bioderma Sensibo H2O Review

Hello Friends,

Today I will be reviewing a product which is a must have if you apply makeup on a daily basis. We invest so much of our time to look good. We use different makeup products to enhance our looks. However there is one thing we don't pay attention to is removing that makeup properly which would otherwise lead to acne, blackheads, whiteheads and other troubled skin conditions. We must take the same amount of effort to remove the makeup from our face as much as we take to apply the makeup. It does not matter whether you apply makeup on a daily basis or occasionally a makeup remover is a must have for everyone. You won't believe me if I tell you that a year back I dint even knew that makeup removers existed. I am a person who uses makeup on a daily basis to work. Earlier I used to just wash my face with a cleanser thinking that my face is clean from all the makeup. Believe me my definition of cleaning makeup from my face has changed from the day I have started using makeup remover. The first ever makeup remover I tried is the Bioderma Sensibo H2O makeup removing micelle solution and today I am going to write my views about this product.

Price: Rs 983 for 250ml of the product. Available in other small quality bottles as well.

Packaging:

Comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a pink colour flip-open cap, a very basic packaging. The packaging says that Sensible H2O gently cleanses and removes makeup from face and eyes. The micelles contained in its formula ensure impurities are removed while respecting the cutaneous balance. Soothing active ingredients help prevent feelings of irritation often associated with cleansing. The patented natural D.A.F*(Dermatological Advanced Formula) complex raises the skin's tolerance threshold. Excellent cutaneous and ocular tolerance.

How to use it:

Dab a cotton pad with the micelle solution and just wipe off that stubborn makeup. To avoid rubbing over heavy eye makeup just close your eyes and put the soaked cotton pads above your eyes and light press and hold for few seconds and then wipe off. You will see how easily all that Kajal and mascara comes off which would otherwise give you panda eyes. Same you can do for removing lipsticks. This micelle solution is such that you do not need to cleanse your face after using this solution. However I prefer to wash my face with a mild cleanser even after using the makeup remover.

My views on the product:

For me this little bottle of goodness is a saviour. It takes 5 mins more of my time everyday to do the makeup removing ritual before going to bed, but I dare not miss this step, because otherwise I am know that my face is not absolutely clean. This transparent liquid looking like water can be misleading but you should not underestimate this magical solution. Used in the right way this solution just so smoothly melts down all that stubborn makeup from your face that it feels like magic. I remember using face wash to remove my makeup and end up with panda eyes. Then again next day before taking bath I used to apply some coconut oil to remove the Kajal completely off my eyes, rubbing over so many times to get it perfectly clean and now, using the micelle solution, the Kajal just comes off like magic. Also this solution did not irritate my super sensitive skin which is again a relief for me. I have been using this micelle solution for a year now and will surely recommend you all to try this.

At last I will say that I am going to definitely repurchase this product. Request you all to also leave your comments in the comment section.
