Lotus Herbals Safe Sun Sunscreen ~ SPF 50

Hello everyone...

As we all know sunscreen is a must for everyone as it protects us from the harmful radiations of the sun and premature ageing caused by sun damage. Whether its bright and sunny or cloudy, one must apply sunscreen before stepping out as the harmful UV rays can even penetrate the dense clouds. I have oily skin and for me it has always been a struggle in finding the right sunscreen for my skin. Some are oily, some caused me to break-out, some irritated my skin and made it more sensitive to sun rays causing sun burn and some sunscreens felt sticky. Few months back while I was watching TV, I saw the Lotus sunscreen ad and it instantly caught my eyes. Its Matte gel and oil control formula with SPF 50 was what made me try it. So I instantly ordered one for me and my life has changed since then.

My views:-

The sunscreen comes in a bright sunny orange color tube with a flip cap. The texture is gel like and is non sticky. It claims that it is an innovative sunblock which is totally non-oily and provides a fresh and clean finish to the face, neck and hands. It protects against all forms of sun induced damage, skin tan, sun-burn, premature ageing and skin cancer.

It contains:
- Horse chestnut which has anti-inflammatory properties, protects the level of hyaluronic acid in the skin
- Comfrey which provides moisturization, has astringent properties, removes blemishes and dark spots and cures rough and damaged skin.
- Vanilla extract contains specific antioxidants that are vital in anti-aging skin benefits

When I apply it on my skin it instantly gives a cooling effect and within a minute the sunscreen gets absorbed and becomes matte. Whenever I go out in the sun I usually get bad sun burns on the areas where my skin is exposed. However after using this sunscreen I noticed a significant difference, I did not get sunburns anymore however I do get tanned a bit if I am out in the sun for prolonged hours.

No matter what the SPF range your sunscreen is it is necessary to apply it every 2 hrs for best results and maximum protection. I always apply sunscreen 20 mins before stepping out in the sun or even if it is cloudy outside. Most of the time I am unable to reapply the sunscreen on my face every 2 hours, so I touchup with a compac powder which has SPF in it.

Retails for Rs. 395 for 100g of the product

What I like about this sunscreen:-
- Great for oily skin as it gives a matte finish
- Comes with SPF 50 which is great
- Provides protection from both UVA and UVB rays and also has PA +++
- Has mild fragrance which disappears after some time
- Does not leave any white cast on the face and looks good in flash photography
- Works great as a makeup base
- Prevents tanning effect to a great extent
- Packaging is travel friendly

What I don't like about this sunscreen:-
- Contains Parabens
- It controls oil for only 3 to 4 hours for my skin

At last I would like to say that this sunscreen has worked amazingly well for my skin and I will definitely repurchase it again.

Best liquid foundation with SPF - MAC Studio Waterweight Foundation Review

Hello everyone...

It was recently when I came to know about the new foundation range launched by MAC. Its the new MAC Studio Waterweight foundation with SPF 30. I had heard a lot of people rave about this product and so I was excited to give it a try. I had never used any foundation from MAC before and this was my first high-end foundation.

It comes in the usual heavy glass bottle (like most other foundations in MAC) with a dropper applicator. This is an excellent addition to MAC's foundation lineup keeping up with the recent trend of serum foundations. The formula is extremely fluidy and only a few drops is enough for the entire face. It has sheer coverage and can be build up to give a bare medium coverage, however it looks very natural on skin. People with skin issues will probably need the help of concealers.

This foundations has many skin beneficial ingredients like fruit extracts, lecithin and sodium hyaluronate etc. Also the ingredients like octinoxate, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide contribute to the high SPF factor. Since this is a sheer coverage foundation I do not rely on this solely to give me sun protection and hence I use my sunscreen first and then the foundation.

I also really cannot say anything about its staying power as it is so sheer. It just slightly evens out the skin tone. Oily skinned people may get a little disappointed as it does not control shine and needs bloating after 3 to 4 hours and has to be set with powder. For dry skin people the foundation will give a perfect finish as it provides a semi dewy look and flawless finish.

Despite of all the claims one thing which I found disappointing was that it oxidized a little bit on my skin and so I usually apply it with another medium coverage foundation of a lighter tone and it just does the magic. Since I have acne scars and acne, this foundation alone is not of any help to me however the finish is like no other foundation I have ever used. It is perfect for an everyday natural look and gives a healthy glow to the skin.

Price : Rs. 2900 for 30 ml
Rating: 4/5

Highlighting Features:-
- Extremely lightweight
- Excellent finish
- High SPF
- Contains skin beneficial ingredients
- Fragrance free
- Dropper applicator
- Only few drops required to cover entire face
- Comes in a wide range of shades

What I disliked:-
- It oxidized on my skin
- Low coverage

Lastly I would say this can be a good alternative for a 'no-makeup' makeup look and is perfect for people with minimal skin issues. The finish is like no other foundation and I will definitely repurchase it again !!

Kama Ayurveda Pure Rose Water ~ 50ml Review

A big hellooo to all you beautiful woman out there....

Today I am going to review the rose water toner from Kama Ayurveda. As we all know how toners are important for our skin and that it should be religiously included in our skin care regime. Most of the toners available in the market today are alcohol free and soothe the skin unlike the toners that were available before. My grandmother often suggested me to apply cool rose water as its mild astringent properties would tighten pores and gently tone the skin. I have oily and acne prone skin and after a lot of experimenting with different toners I came across this miraculous rose water toner by an exotic all natural ayurvedic brand - 'Kama Ayurveda'.

A symbol of beauty, purity and freshness, Rose has soothing, healing, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and since it comes from such a renowned brand it makes it all the more worth it. Rose cleanses, purifies, firms and tones the skin. It treats dry and ageing skin. It helps to get rid of pigmentation, redness and swelling. For oily skin it balances the oil content and can be used for treating skin irritations and burns. It also prevents outbreaks of skin problems like acne, pore block, blackheads, pimples, wrinkles and lines. It is used as an astringent to hydrate the skin and make it healthy, youthful, supple, fresh and glowing.

Ingredients
Lot of people have been raving about this product and it is one of the most popular products of this brand. So lets find out how this product worked on me, what was my experience and if the product is worth all the hype !!

My take on the product:

The product claims to balance and restore skin's pH level and helps tighten pores. The packaging is quiet simple yet classy. It comes in a handy, dark spray bottle with a transparent cap. The plastic bottle with the nozzle is quite sturdy, easy to use and easy to carry in my handbag while travelling. Also the cute packaging with the pastel rosy pink and golden label looks too elegant.

It has a pleasant, mild rose fragrance which does not linger on for long and disappears after sometime. The rose water is alcohol free as well as it does not contain any artificial colour, chemicals or fragrance.

This toner is made from the roses of Kannauj which are considered special due to its similarity to the Bulgarian roses. The steam distillation process used to create this water ensures high level of hygiene and unmatched purity. I usually spray it directly on my skin and then spread it evenly on my entire face and then let it dry. I can feel the soothing effect instantly and it tones my skin and tightens my pores. Sometimes I also spray it in a cotton and rub it off on my skin and it removes the excess dirt from the pores. Secondly I use it as a makeup setting spray and it works really well. Last but not the least whenever I feel my skin needs hydration I just spray some on my skin, pat it and my skin is back to life again !!

I was very hesitant at first to use a toner fearing if it would break me out but the Kama Ayurveda toner has been a blessing for me. This is my third bottle and I can undoubtedly say that it has worked great for my skin and since it is just pure rose water it can be used by all skin types.

Price : Rs 250 for 50 ml

Rating : 4.8/5

My final thoughts on this toner is that I really love the product and it has worked very well for my oily and acne prone skin. It is really mild and gentle on my skin. It has now become an indispensable part of my skin care regime and I use it religiously. It has also become a must have in my handbag and hydrates and refreshes my skin on the go.

I would really recommend this product to everyone no matter whatever skin type you have.  Those of you who have already used this product do let me know your thoughts and views in the comment section below.
