Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask Review

Hello everyone...

Today I will be reviewing the Innisfree super volcanic, pore clay mask. Before going into the details of the product let me tell you something about the brand. Innisfree is known for being South Korea's first all natural brand. It is one of the few Korean brands that use organic ingredients certified by France's ECOCERT organization. Their products range from makeup to skincare products for both men and women.

It was while searching for good face masks I came across this product. I was fascinated by the name of the product which says 'volcanic pore clay mask' and also the brand which is an all natural one. The product contains juju volcanic clay which is made from minerals released by volcanic explosions in juju island. It is categorised as preserved alkaline resource and is effective in removing sebum and other impurities. The product claims that it tightens pores, removes sebum, exfoliates dead skin cells, offers deep cleansing, enhances skin tone and provides cooling effects. What else can anyone ask for!!  It also says that the product with its super volcanic cluster capsules powerfully absorbs sebum to intensively resolve pore concerns.

Taking about the packaging the product comes in a brown paper box which can be recycled. Inside of it is the jar containing the clay mask. The jar also has the same brown packaging with a copper coloured screw cap and is travel friendly.

My views about the product-

The product retails for Rs 1100/- for 100 ml of the product

The product is a grey coloured thick clay mask, is creamy in texture and has few tiny granules which I guess may be the capsules which bursts and the AHA element in it helps the mask exfoliate the skin. It has a mild herbal smell to it which fades away after washing. I use it ones a week and have been using it since a month now and I can say that this mask really works.  I first wash my face and pat it dry. Then I apply my rose water toner and then apply the mask on my face.  It has also been mentioned in the packaging that applying a toner before applying the mask will refine skin texture. I let the product sit on my skin for about 20 minutes. The mask gives instant cooling sensation and the good thing is it does not crack like other clay masks which would otherwise cause wrinkles and stretch marks on the skin. For removing I first gently roll using finger tips with lukewarm water.  After rolling for some time I finally wash my face with some cold water. After drying I again apply my toner and then leave it. The cooling effect of the clay and strong absorption of sebum instantly refreshes the skin and contracts pores. After every use I find my skin feel really smooth and clean. The pores on my face appear shrunken and remain like that for a few hours. The mask did not break me out however it neither cured the existing acnes nor aggravate it.

The only thing you have to be careful is that the product can dry out very quickly and hence immediately cover the jar after use. I therefore did not like the wide mouth of the jar as it can make the product dry quickly if not closed immediately. Also the jar should come with a spatula so that we don't dip our fingers in it.

Pros of the product:

- Packaging is travel friendly
- Skin feels smooth and clean after use
- Does not over dry skin or stretch it
- Instantly gives cooling sensation
- Free from harsh chemicals
- Quantity is worth the price

-Should come with a spatula
-Can dry out really quickly if left open for long

Last but not the least I am really impressed by this mask as it has worked well for my oily skin. In fact it is the best mask I have ever used. Oily skin people will really love this face mask. You can also use the product with some rose water or plain water in case it dries up.

Rating : 4.7/5

Those of you who have already used the product do let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Oily skin nightmares and skin care tips

If you are reading this blog then you must be someone who is searching for yet another tip to control the oiliness on your face. If so then don't worry because you are at the right place. Its been a long time since I was thinking to write this post which will be helpful to oily skin people like myself. I have oily skin and I get really oily around my T-zone and hair scalp and the struggle is for real. Like you, even I have searched for tips and products everywhere to find that one product or tip which will stop that oil from showing up on my face..

Below are some of the struggles which every oily skin person can relate to:
1. The first thing we notice when we wake up in the morning is that our face is shining like a frying pan and is dripping of oil
2. We apply makeup and within 2 hours our face is shining and we need tissue paper to dab off that excess oil. Also most of the foundations oxidise because of the oil secretion
3. You don't need a highlighter. Within a few hours of doing makeup you skin naturally starts to shine
4. We keep on experimenting with every new oil control product thats available in the market
5. People with large pores really have tough time
6. Our skin is more prone to acne and it feels disgusting when we see new zits appearing when we are just done with the old ones.
7. For people with oily scalp the struggle is even worse as they need to shampoo their hair every alternate day or even every day. (I always get asked whether I got a champi done on my head when its only my 2nd day hair and so I have to shampoo my hair every alternate day). Bangs are a no no for us because we are only making space to accumulate more greasiness

I have read a lot of articles on skin care tips for oily skin and below are some of the best tips which have really helped me on my skin care journey...

1. Moisturizer is a must - You must be thinking why moisturiser when we already have so much oil on our face, but the fact is that using moisturiser will balance the excess production of oil. If we use oil clearing products then we are ripping off our skin of its natural oil content which in turn leads to excess oil production in order to balance the loss. So definitely use a moisturiser.

2. Use facial oils - Applying the right oil can also do wonders for our skin. But be careful as organic products may not suite everyone. So find the one that suits you and then see the magic.

3. Cleaning face twice to thrice a day is enough - You don't need to wash your face every single hour. In that way you will feel really clean however in this way you are again forcing your skin to produce excess oils. Using a mild face wash or a medicated soap is highly recommended.

4. Too much scrubbing - You can use a scrub just ones or twice a week. Using face scrub too often can enlarge pores which will lead to more oil to come out on the surface of the skin and attract dirt and germs causing breakouts.

5. Toner is a must - If you want to shut down those large pores beneath which lies those small oil factories then do not forget to apply a toner. Toners help clean pores and tighten them thereby reduce in size leading to beautiful skin.

6. Excess use of oil absorbing face packs - ones again depriving your skin of its natural oil content might lead to production of more oil to balance the loss. Using a fuller's earth (Multani mitti) face pack or a face pack of similar kind ones a week is sufficient.

7. Experimenting with new products - the less you experiment with new products the less you mess with your skin. So just sit back, relax and breathe !!

8. Follow a healthy diet - Eating healthy will ultimately reflect on your skin. Eating foods with high water content preferably fruits and salads will really help you get a healthy and supple skin

9. 4 litres water every day - last but not the least and the most important tip is to drink atleast 4 litres of water every day. Make water you best friend. You can make your drinking water routine more interesting by using the below tricks-
                     - Replace a glass of water with a glass of juice
                     - Make the plain water as a detox water by adding some fruits of your choice, slice of  lemon and some mint leaves in your water bottle. Preferably store the bottle in the fridge as this will accentuate the flavours.

With this I hope you find some of the above tips helpful. I have oily skin and hence I completely understand what you have been through and I also know that you have tried every oily skin skincare hack that you could find so far. Just try the above methods for sometime and if you really see a noticeable difference do let me know in the comment section below.. cya.
