Today's review is about a much hyped makeup remover Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. This is my second review in the makeup remover series. Earlier to this I have reviewed the Bioderma makeup remover. So this review will include my views about the Garnier makeup remover as well as how much did I like it compared to the Bioderma.
Just in case you did not know what micellar water is, micellar water can be used as a facial wash, makeup remover and moisturise all in one. The micelles in it have properties which can attract dirt and oil and hence come handy when you are in a hurry or have no time to do a complete cleansing routine.
Price : Rs 349 for 400 ml of the product
The packaging is very simple, with a transparent plastic bottle and a flip open cap. The packaging reads - all in one micellar cleansing water that purifies and removes makeup in 1 gesture. Enriched with micelles, it captures and lifts away residue from face, eyes and lips like a magnet. No need to rub to get rid of impurities and makeup. They also say that this refreshing formula is non-sticky, non-oily and without perfume. It is suitable for all skin type including sensitive skin. This product is also dermatologically and opthalmologically tested.
How to use it:
Simply pour some micellar water to a cotton pad, lightly press on to the face and slowly wipe it away. For removing Matte lipsticks and your favourite smoky eye makeup, gently press on to the lips and eye lids for some time and then swipe it off. By soaking the makeup with this solution for some time will help removing the makeup easily. The product claims that no rinsing required after using this cleansing solution. However, I always clean my face with a face wash after I have removed my makeup with the micellar water.
My views on the product:-
I bought Garnier Micellar after months of using of Bioderma micellar water thinking that all micellar waters will be same. However after using Garnier for more than a month, I can say that I liked the Bioderma more. First observance, even if I shake the bottle a little bit, it forms bubbles as if it has some soap thingy in it. This was not the case with Bioderma. There used to be bubbles but after giving it a good shake. Another difference is that, the Bioderma bubbles would go away within minutes, however Garnier would take hours to settle down the bubbles. When I use it to remove makeup, it feels very slippery similar to using a face wash and also feel burning sensation if the liquid gets into my eyes which was not the case with Bioderma. The fact is even if I have not moved the Garnier micellar bottle I still see bubbles on its surface, which makes me a bit skeptical about the product.
On the makeup removing part, removing heavy duty makeup takes a little bit of effort with Garnier and I feel it is not as smooth as Bioderma. The only downer about Bioderma is that it is too costly as it is priced at Rs 983 for 250 ml of the product. The Garnier makeup remover does pretty well for removing the makeup however Bioderma is my favourite.
So those were my views on this product. Hope it was helpful. Do let me know if you want to know anything else about this product and also your views in the comments section below.
